Shirley Smith is a seasoned Substance Abuse Counselor, Case Manager, Community Health Worker, Recovery Coach and Certified Narcan Trainer with extensive experience supporting justice-involved populations, particularly incarcerated women. Her work focuses on court reporting, court advocacy, court and facilitating evidence-based therapeutic groups at the Nassau County Correctional Facility with the intended goal of reducing recidivism.
Ms. Smith’s background is rooted in behavioral health and community advocacy, Shirley brings a compassionate, client-centered approach to her work. Her focus is on empowering individuals to make sustainable changes, develop healthy coping strategies to lead productive and fulfilling lives. She is deeply passionate about bridging the gap between incarceration and recovery, helping clients navigate complex systems with dignity and respect towards an overall goal of leading happier, healthier and productive lives.
