WORC
PAY
WORC PAY addresses the growing challenge of youth leaving school prematurely due to a range of factors, including socioeconomic hardship, limited English proficiency, punitive school discipline policies, teen pregnancy, and failure to re-engage after detention. Youth who leave school without a diploma face significantly reduced job prospects, lower lifetime earnings, and poorer health outcomes (Rumberger & Lim, 2008). Early school departure also heightens the risk of criminal activity, substance abuse, and other adverse life outcomes.
Through GED preparation and ESL classes, WORC PAY equips participants with the academic foundation they need to succeed. All participants must also complete our financial literacy and entrepreneurship curriculum before qualifying for paid vocational and occupational training opportunities.
