WORC

Success Story

L.Z.

“I am a Caucasian female in my early fifties, and I first heard of the WORC program while incarcerated at the Nassau County Correctional Facility. WORC staff visited the facility twice weekly, and I participated in the journaling and support peer groups.

Upon my release, I conducted an intake and through their case management services I was referred to for trauma counseling, outpatient substance use treatment, and attended the weekly support group sessions. I was proud that my urine toxicology screenings were all negative while in the program.

Individual counseling with WORC allowed me to learn new skills and reunite with my mother and daughter. Nassau County probation successfully completed my electronic ankle monitoring, and my case is closed.

I am forever grateful to the WORC staff for their tireless work which has given me a ‘new lease on life.’ I am looking forward to being a part of their workforce development program.”
